Generational Trends in Weddings
The average age of couples getting married is 30 years. A noticeable shift in generational preferences has been observed, with 62% of couples now belonging to Gen Z, a 49% increase from the previous year. Millennials make up 30% of couples getting married, though this demographic has decreased by 54% compared to last year. Despite this shift, Millennials still account for a significant portion of weddings, contributing to one in three ceremonies.
Wedding Venue Costs
Wedding venue costs have risen, with the average venue costing around ₹6 lakhs. About 40% of couples allocate ₹7.5 lakhs for their venue, while 31% spend more than ₹10 lakhs. This underscores the importance of venue selection in shaping the wedding experience.
Engagement Trends
February is the most popular month for engagements, followed by December. Family and friends continue to be part of proposal moments, with 16% of couples reporting their loved ones were present during their engagement.
Wedding Planning Priorities
While cost remains an important factor for 53% of couples, it is no longer the primary focus. Instead, couples are placing greater emphasis on food, beverages, and guest experience, indicating an increasing demand for high-quality catering, entertainment, and hospitality.
Financial Insights: Wedding Expenses
Couples spend an average of 21% of their annual household income on their wedding, highlighting the financial investment many are willing to make for their special day.
Digital Trends in Wedding Communication
Digital communication has become an essential part of wedding planning, with 79% of couples using platforms like WhatsApp to share wedding details with family and friends. Wedding websites are also growing in popularity as a tool for managing wedding logistics, reflecting the increasing role of technology in the planning process.

Wedding celebrations are also becoming longer, with 35% lasting three days and 32% extending to four or more days, allowing for more time with loved ones.
