Cargill Foods India announced their key initiatives to claim national leadership in the sunflower category. This includes their new partnership with Rising Pune Supergiants for the Indian Premier League 2016. Cargill’s Gemini sunflower oil brand will be the ‘official healthy cooking partners’ for the IPL team. The company also announced the launch of new and refreshed packs of Nature Fresh Actilite low-fat cooking sunflower oil and Sweekar sunflower oil which will be available in the markets from this month.

Commenting on the collaboration, Deoki Muchhal, COO, Cargill Foods India stated, “We are pleased to announce brand initiatives across the sunflower oil portfolio which will help us strengthen our presence in the category. Nature Fresh, Gemini and Sweekar appeal to different segments of consumers across geographies and will help us get a stronger national footprint. We intend to be the No. 1 player in the sunflower oil category.”

Neelima Burra, CMO, Cargill Foods India added, “Indian Premier League is the biggest cricketing event in the country and we are pleased to associate with Rising Pune Supergiants as their official healthy cooking oil partner. IPL offers a huge platform for engaging with consumers as well as with the trade community. Gemini is the leading brand of edible oil in Pune with a market share of 70%. This partnership with Rising Pune Supergiants for IPL 2016 is a strategic one. Through this collaboration two supergiants of Pune are coming together and we are confident that this will further strengthen our bond with the people of Pune”

Rising Pune Supergiants is part of the eight competing teams promoted by Indian Premier League. The franchise is owned by the RP- Sanjiv Geonka Group and was founded in 2015.  The team is currently captained by M.S. Dhoni and coached by former New Zealand cricketer Stephen Fleming.
