Yoga National Conclave 2025 Tamil Nadu State Chapter Committee of the Indian Yoga Association Ministry of Ayush Government of India

The Tamil Nadu State Chapter Committee of the Indian Yoga Association, a self-regulatory body approved by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, organized a two-day Yoga National Conclave on “Modern Trends in Yoga and Integrated Medicine Systems” on February 1 and 2, 2025. Hosted at the Vethathiri Maharishi College of Yoga, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, the conclave brought together experts, practitioners, and enthusiasts to explore the evolving role of yoga in healthcare.

Over two days, the conclave featured 30 distinguished speakers across 10 sessions, engaging attendees in 11 hours of insightful presentations and panel discussions. With more than 350 delegates in attendance, including representatives from major institutions, associate centres, and life members of the Indian Yoga Association, the event served as a dynamic platform for exchanging knowledge and perspectives. Special invitees and well-wishers from various parts of India participated, making it an enriching and interactive learning experience. Beyond academic discourse, the conclave fostered a sense of community among attendees, offering networking opportunities and culminating in a cultural show that celebrated the spirit of yoga.

Acharya Dr. Shreevarma, Chairman of the Sub-Committee, Indian Yoga Association Tamil Nadu, led the felicitation of esteemed yoga teachers and dignitaries at the event. Among those honored were Dr. M. Ragavendra Rao, Director of the Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy, New Delhi; Dr. Kambhampati Subrahmanyam, Chancellor of S-VYASA (Yoga University), Bengaluru; and Dr. Ananda Balayogi Bhavanani, Joint Secretary of the Indian Yoga Association and Professor of Yoga Therapy at Sree Balaji Vidyapeeth University, Pondicherry.

The inaugural session on Day 1 was presided over by Padma Shri A/N. SKM Maeilanadhan, Chairman of the Tamil Nadu State Chapter Committee of the Indian Yoga Association and President of the World Community Service Centre, Aliyar, who delivered the presidential address. Thiru. MA. Subramanian, Hon’ble Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu, graced the occasion as the chief guest. In his address, he highlighted the remarkable strides made in primary and promotive healthcare in Tamil Nadu and shared his personal journey of recovery through yoga following a major car accident. Now an avid marathon runner, he credited yoga for his physical and mental resilience, emphasizing its role in improving the lives of people across all walks of life, including school children and pregnant women.

The day also featured a report presentation by Dr. R. Elangovan, Secretary of the Indian Yoga Association, Tamil Nadu State Chapter. Rajeshwari Prabhakaran, Senior Vice-Chairman of the Tamil Nadu State Chapter Committee of Patanjali Yog Peeth, Haridwar, delivered the welcome address, while R. Balan, Chairman of the Sub-Committee of the Tamil Nadu State Chapter Committee and President of Narchinthanai Vattam, Chennai, proposed the vote of thanks.

On Day 2, Padma Shri A/N. SKM Maeilanadhan once again presided over the valedictory function. Shri. Subodh Tiwari, Secretary-General of the Executive Council, Indian Yoga Association, and CEO & Secretary of Kaivalyadhama, Lonavala, delivered the valedictory address, elaborating on the achievements of the Indian Yoga Association. The session was further enriched by Dr. C. N. Maheswaran, I.A.S., Managing Director of Tamil Nadu Salt Corporation Limited, Chennai, and Dr. A. M. Moorthy, Advisor, IYA-TNSCC and Director of Sports Medicine and Yoga at Sree Balaji Medical College and Hospital, Chrompet, Chennai, who facilitated discussions. Thangalakshmi, State Coordinator of Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari, and Treasurer of the Indian Yoga Association Tamil Nadu State Chapter Committee, welcomed the gathering, while Dr. R. Elangovan concluded the event with a vote of thanks.

The Yoga National Conclave 2025 reinforced the significance of yoga in modern healthcare, emphasizing its integration with medical systems for holistic well-being. By bringing together experts and practitioners, the event strengthened collaborative efforts in promoting yoga as a mainstream practice for a healthier society.
