PM Kicks off Seven Initiatives by Brahma Kumaris for Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav

The national launch of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav se Swarnim Bharat Ke Ore’ organised by the spiritual organisation Brahma Kumaris was hosted on 20 January 2022 via video conferencing. Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered the keynote address and flagged off seven initiatives of Brahma Kumaris.
These include: My India Healthy India, Aatmanirbhar Bharat: Self Reliant Farmers, Women: Flag Bearers of India, Power of Peace Bus Campaign, Andekha Bharat Cycle Rally, United India Motor Bike Campaign and green initiatives under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
In all, more than 30 campaigns and over 15,000 programmes and events will be organised across the globe by the organisation.
Under a ‘My India Healthy India’ initiative, multiple events and programmes including medical camps, cancer screening and conferences for doctors and other health care workers will be hosted in medical colleges and hospitals with a focus on spirituality, well-being and nutrition.
‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat: Self Reliant Farmers’ will witness 75 farmer empowerment campaigns, 75 farmer conferences, 75 sustainable yogic farming training programmes and other such initiatives for the welfare of farmers.
Initiatives under ‘Women: Flag Bearers of India’ will focus on social transformation through empowerment of women and the girl child.
A ‘Power of Peace Bus Campaign’ will cover 75 cities and tehsils and will carry an exhibition on the positive transformation of today's youth.
The ‘Andekha Bharat Cycle Rally’, meanwhile, will be held at different heritage sites, drawing a connection between heritage and the environment.
The ‘United India Motor Bike Campaign’ will be hosted from Mount Abu to Delhi covering multiple cities. Initiatives under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan will include monthly cleanliness drives, community cleaning programmes and awareness campaigns.
During the launch event, an anthem dedicated to Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav by Grammy Award winner Ricky Kej was also released.
Union Minister for Culture, Tourism and Development of North Eastern states G Kishan Reddy was among attendees at the virtual ceremony.
Others were Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Governor of Rajasthan Kalraj Mishra, Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot, Chief Minister of Gujarat Bhupendra Patel, Union Ministers Bhupender Yadav, Arjun Ram Meghwal, Parshottam Rupala and Kailash Choudhary.
Union Minister Reddy emphasised the role of the Ministry of Culture in organising different competitions and events under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav at centre, state and international levels.
Reddy said, “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahostav is one of the longest running festivals in the world and is being organised by the Government of India, respective state governments and various organisations, at a global stage with large scale public participation.”
Noting that lakhs of people from different parts of the country were coming together for these events, he added, “This mahotsav also recognises the sacrifices of thousands of revolutionaries who sacrificed their lives for the freedom movement. ”
He appealed to other social organisations, teachers, scientists and intellectuals to come together and contribute to make Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav a grand success.
