Experiential Planner, in partnership with Macao Tourism, recently concluded a webinar called Reboot Camp, featuring MICE and destination wedding experts, to discuss new opportunities to explore Macao for weddings and MICE programmes.

During this webinar, wedding planners spoke about Macao as a unique and ideal destination for weddings, which is bound to be on the minds of all Indian planners organising weddings in 2021. Indian wedding planners also suggested having a list of hotels that are well equipped to host large Indian weddings in Macao, so that direct communication can be started with them.

To facilitate this, the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) is currently working on providing a separate counter for immigration at the airport to help wedding planners who work with large Indian families. The travel stimulation programme by MGTO will also be applicable for Indian weddings.

Experts believe that an aggressive communication strategy for Indian wedding planners will help boost the numbers Macao deserves because of its state-of-the-art luxurious hotels and efficient hotel staff. Indian families tend to extend their stay in the country once the wedding has been concluded, which will definitely help in enhancing the positioning of Macao as a destination for family holidays, planners added.

What wedding planners see in Macao

“Macao as a destination is a wedding planner’s delight as everything is so well organised in terms of hospitality along with other aspects of hosting a social event there. Support and incentives from the Macao Government in organising large Indian weddings would go a long way and inspire other Indian destination wedding planners to put Macao on the map,” said Mahindra Gangadharan, Managing Director, Neferrtiti.

Keyur Patel, Managing Director, Prasang Events said, “It would be great to have a list of hotels that are well equipped to host large Indian weddings in Macao, so that we can directly communicate with them. I am glad to share that the efficiency of service-providers in Macao, be it the hotel staff or other vendors, is very high as everything is served on mutually decided timelines.”

“As ferrying large groups from one country to another can be challenging, it would be great to have separate counters for immigration at the airport to help wedding planners dealing with large Indian families. Pick and drop facilities for hotels, signages at the airport directing people, can be a few things that will matter a lot to the client, when it comes to first impression of the destination’s hospitality. Also, Indian families tend to extend their stay in the country once the wedding is over, which definitely helps enhance the positioning of Macao for family holidays,” added Vikram Mehta, Director, Mpire Weddings.
