The mix of new world and cultural influences that Macao offers, makes it an ideal destination for weddings, meetings and incentive travel and gives the opportunity to do business at leisure surrounded by luxury. It also offers meeting venues and convention facilities with state-of-the-art technology that can be altered as per requirement. Exceptional venues for social and corporate functions, where uninterrupted conferences can be paired with networking events, rightfully justify the destination tagline ‘Experience Macao Your Own Style’.

Being a popular destination for events and a favourite among MICE and wedding planners, here's a take from top industry players on why Macao qualifies as an ideal MICE and wedding destination.
Why Macao works well for MICE planners

Macao is an attractive MICE destination that offers a perfect blend of new and old. You have the Portuguese and Chinese influence over architecture, cuisine, festivals and lifestyle. It can easily host large events as it is a small country (everything within 20 to 25 minutes distance) but has top hotel brands offering 30,000-35,000 rooms and large conference venues. Macao is the Las Vegas of Asia offering excellent outdoor venues and entertainment. The nightlife is great. It has great attractions like shows, concerts, entertainment at Macao for corporate travellers and tourists. The Venetian is an experience in itself. For me, the top three draws are Macao Tower, Venetian and St Paul’s Church remains. Finally, Macao Tourism also offers incentives for corporate groups, which makes it attractive to hold MICE programmes.

It’s a unique destination, truly the Vegas of the East. There is an exclusivity when you hear ‘Macao is unlike places like Singapore, KL, Bangkok; for that matter even Hong Kong’. Brilliant hotels, venues and great service. It’s a pearl in the East, truly to be explored and post the pandemic, I am sure it will create an even bigger impact amongst Indian travellers.

While Macao takes pride in its luxurious casinos and grand entertainment shows, my recommendation is to not miss out on the Portuguese-style architecture especially at the Senado Square. It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage site and a beautiful display of unique charm and East-meets-West culture. Another favourite of mine is the Ruins of St. Paul - a must-visit and an inspiring memory that lingers on. The people are warm and the city interactive with the option to discover its secrets through technology and games. Macao is authentic, on point and for everyone!

Why Macao is an ever-popular spot for wedding planners

For the longest time, I looked at Macao as a unique and exotic destination which was a mini Las Vegas. It was the closest we could come to the ‘Sin City’ in this part of the world. It all changed when I finally worked with them, only to realise its versatility and ability to host multicultural events. From an Indian wedding perspective, it’s an untapped and unearthed destination that has tremendous potential.

Macao is popular as Las Vegas of the East. It’s a city on the banks of the Pearl river estuary - an exotic destination for Indian weddings with a blend of night life and history for the nuptials is definitely worth considering.

Macao is an unconventional destination for social celebration. It has a variety of theme-based hotels with huge inventory and celebration spaces. Entertainment availability is outstanding with amazing hospitality due to casino city.
