WOW Awards Asia Moves Towards an Extended Reality Award Ceremony in Light of COVID-19

WOW Awards Asia 2020 which was scheduled for 25-27th June 2020 in New Delhi, Aerocity in light of COVID-19 had decided to postpone the event to September 2020 for public health & safety. WOW promised to get back with a final decision by mid-April after consulting with industry leaders and reviewing how the situation evolves.
Research reports and common facts clearly indicate that safe public congregations are at least six months away. WOW had first announced the postponement of the WOW Awards Asia 2020 ceremony to a potential date in September, they were optimistic about a full-scale gala like the previous years where 1500+ industry stakeholders congregated and celebrated the best of the year gone by.
A September on-ground ceremony, unfortunately, does not seem feasible. Nor does further postponement make sense.
In light of the situation, WOW Awards is now moving ahead with an Extended Reality Awards Ceremony on Friday, 14th August 2020.
What is Extended Reality (XR): VR x Mixed Reality
WOW Awards is encouraged by industry leaders that the show must go on. And especially since this 12th edition of WOW also celebrates the best of the decade gone by via 6 WOW Decade categories - An opportunity to really reflect and celebrate the decade gone by and work towards a more purposeful decade ahead as we come out stronger.
Why Extended Reality - The attempt will still be to have a studio produced ceremony with live anchors and entertainers and if feasible, have one representative of each winning entrant to be physically present at the studio whilst the teams join in virtually.
With this new development and keeping in mind the feedback from the industry, WOW Awards reduces the entry fees this year by 50%.
The entry fees for EACH WOW Awards entry is:
• Entrants from India: INR 9,440/- (inclusive of GST) INR 4,720/- (inclusive of GST)
• International Entrants from Asia: USD 150/- (inclusive of Tax) USD 75/- (inclusive of Tax)
