The 56th year of Maharashtra Rajya Chitrapat Puraskar took place on  May 26th, 2019 at the huge venue of Dome, NSCI, SVP Stadium, and the event was managed by Dome Entertainment. The Marathi film industry is churning out the best of stories each year, thus, talent from this sector was awarded and honored by the Maharashtra State Government.

The occasion was graced by many celebrities of the film industry. The audience witnessed stellar performances by some of the popular faces from the fraternity. This year also marks the birth centenary of legendary musicians P.L Deshpande, Gajanan Digambar Madgulkar, Sudhir Phadke, Vasantrao Deshpande and Snehal Bhatkar. Thus, as an ode to their talent and contribution to cinema, a special singing tribute act was performed by current popular singers. 

The highlight of the event was when ace Hollywood Cinematographer and President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, John Bailey graced the occasion along with Carol Littleton. Also present at the event was the Minister of Higher & Technical Education, Vinod Tawde. The evening was also graced by many stars such as Nagraj Manjule, Bharat Jadhav, Paresh Rawal, Vaman Bhosale, Sushma Shiromani, Bharat Dabholkar, Kaykay Menon, Gauri Kiran and many more.
