India Inclusion Summit
The 7th edition of the India Inclusion Summit began with a bang on the November 17th and 18th, 2018. The two-day event was held at Radisson Blu, Outer Ring Road, Bengaluru, and saw 800 – 900 people attending the summit.
The India Inclusion Summit (IIS) essentially creates a platform to raise awareness on the need to include specially-abled people in the mainstream society. Conceptualized in December 2012, IIS works towards being a world-class community that strives to build an Inclusive India by 2030.
Conglomerates such as Allegis, SAP, ANZ, and Enable India – a registered charitable trust working towards empowering those with disabilities, hosted the summit in an effort to bring thought-leaders and unsung heroes, with or without disabilities, in one platform to support the cause.
EvenFlow Experiences, a Bengaluru-based event firm, raised the bar for the summit by creating an exclusive décor and a colorful experience. Gadda-style seating arrangements, beautifully-beaded crystal trees, colorful flower Rangolis, painted pots, handcrafted name tags with signature Tsunamika dolls by Upasana, and exclusive bird-shaped badges by Diya Foundation were featured at the event.
Speakers included Rupert Isaacson, a Documentary Filmmaker; Brij Kothari an Entrepreneur; Suchitra Shenoy, a Writer; Yetnebersh Nigussie, a Lawyer and Disability Rights Activist; Rajni Bakshi, a Journalist and Author; Jerry White, an Activist; and Caroline Casey, a TED Speaker and an Activist.
To set the event on lighter note, the participants were treated to amazing performances by T. V. Gopalakrishnan, a Carnatic and Hindustani Musician; and K S Chitra, a renowned Playback Singer. A fun interactive session with Suhasini Maniratnam, an acclaimed Actor and Director, was also organized.
Other décor elements executed by EvenFlow Experiences that stole the show included The Inclusion Tree – the logo for IIS; a Social Media Wall where participants extended their support for the #InclusiveIndia movement on social media platforms; Sand Art by Raghavendra Hegde; and a History Wall that showcased IIS over the years.
A Friend-raising Circle – a gathering of those closely-associated with the initiative who come together to engage in close conversations, brainstorm and share wisdom on making an Inclusive India, along with an Inclusive Walkathon to show support for the cause was also a part of the summit.
