The main objective of this Diploma programme is to professionalise the field of event management. The event industry has been pretty `eventful’ in the recent years and a need was strongly felt by academicians and representatives from the industry to develop a comprehensive programme for people who are already employed in the event industry, for those who are preparing for advancement within the field and for aspiring learners who are looking for an opportunity to enter the profession.
Noted experts from the industry have contributed to the development of the programme. Vipul Pandhi of Workaholics Event Solutions Pvt. Ltd. was approached a few years back by Dr. Heena K. Bijli, faculty and programme coordinator of this Diploma programme at IGNOU. He brought with him an expert team into the fore - comprising of Ankur Kalra of Vibgyor Brand Services and Rajesh Verma of CRI Events, who along with Pervinder Mehta of Eventkraft identified the skills and competency domains required for an event profession.
Several course components of this Diploma have been edited by industry stalwarts like Ankur Kalra, Vibgyor; Pervinder Mehta, Eventkraft and Tabassum Modi of Victor Tango, while providing relevant insights on the existing and emerging areas that require special skills and practical training.
