Knot Married The Westin Mumbai Garden City

The bride Anu and groom Tushar met through a dating app, and after dating for a year the proposal was made in a thoroughly filmy way. Considering the love for grandeur, the couple was sure that their wedding would be nothing less than a modern fairytale. Knot Married was roped in to turn the dreamy fairytale into a reality. The venue chosen for the ceremonies which lasted from December 06 to 09, 2017 was The Westin Mumbai Garden City.

Tushar was very clear on how he wanted his wedding to be and had discussed all the themes and details from start to finish with the help of the Knot Married team. One of the key requirements of the couple was having the hashtag “BBCwaalishaadi” on every corner. Providing end-to-end wedding management for the event, Knot Married coordinated all aspects of the event including the production, show running, hospitality, and logistics. The planning took 3 months and more Than 90 vendors and suppliers were brought on board including Shutter Down for Photography, Prache for Design, while the catering was done by the hotel and 15+ vendors across India. The hospitality and logistics movement was seamlessly managed from the airport to check-ins with a customised radio channel for guests during transport, a grand welcome reception, and quick check-ins.

There were also multiple artists roped in to entertain over 400 guests invited for the functions. The names included Neha Basin (Mehendi), Delhi Dholwalas and Gidda Performance (Mehendi Entry), Mame Khan (Sufi Night), Guru Randhawa (Cocktail), a trio of Saxophonist, Violinist, and Harpist (Engagement), Vedic chants (Wedding), Regional Dancers (Jaimala).

Engagement

An elegant engagement party at the Grand Ballroom of The Westin Mumbai Garden City marked the beginning of the duo’s wedding celebrations. The inspiration behind the décor was done using exotic flowers with flower canopies over the dinner tables. The bridegroom seating featured a colossal floral cabana with chandeliers and a lot of tea-light candles. The bride looked resplendent in a champagne coloured lehenga by Sabyasachi paired with diamond jewellery. The groom, on the other hand, opted for a traditional vibe and wore a kurta-pyjama with a Modi jacket from SS Homes. As It was an English themed engagement we made sure to have a trio of female foreign Artists playing the saxophone, harp, and violin.

Sangeet

The Mehendi function was held on December 7th, 2018, and hosted at the Westin Woods at The Westin Mumbai Garden City. It was a very colourful affair with a diwan set-up for the guests to sit and get beautiful mehendi designs done. The bridal seating was done on a cabana with a raised platform that had flower chakras with little woollen tassel hangings, colourful paper flowers, and a tree-shaped wooden stand with bangles placed on it with the colourful elephants on sides. On the other side, a big stage setup was raised with a band set up for the performance of famous Bollywood singer Neha Basin. Turkish Ice-Cream, Sharab-Di-Gaddi were special highlights of the food area. Carts offering giveaways (dupattas and bangles) for guests and a digital touch in photo-op for the photo booth were also set up.

Sufi Night

This was at the top of our mind when we started planning for the lavish wedding -  Moroccan theme was selected for Sufi Night, which was held in the evening at the Grand Ballroom of the venue. The entire décor was done in Gold and Royal blue with dim romantic lights, with minimalistic elements. It was a conglomeration of Persian arches beautified by Moroccan and Turkish lamps and exotic flowers. One such highlight the evening ended on was a very mesmerising and magical note with an exhilarating performance by Mame Khan’s traditional/folk Rajasthani voice.

Jaimala

The groom entered in a classic vintage car with a special track created with the mixture of 'Azeem-o-Shaan' for his royal entry. The groom watched the bride enter in her specially designed Palki on the most popular bride entry track ‘Din Shagna Da‘. Cold pyros paved the way towards the Grand Ballroom for Jaimala. During the time of Jaimala, dancers performed on a regional track. The decor of the stage was inspired by the famous Shree Jagannath Temple.

Wedding

The wedding was hosted at The Westin Woods where the setup was completely floral and royal. The Mandap was a magical setting, with a magnificent Ganesha at the back, along with red roses and rajanigandha garlands strung from the ceiling, looking like they are dropping from the sky. The Mandap was stunning from every angle. The Bride was enhancing the beauty of Tarun Tahilian’s lehenga. On the other side of the Mandap, an amphitheatre seating was made for the 11 Pandits where they chanted the mantras.

Cocktail Party

The cocktail party for #BBCwalishaadi was designed and executed at Onkar Farms, New Delhi. Interestingly, the theme was based on the concept of Bollywood Bling where delightful shades of red and black, white and gold were juxtaposed beautifully across the various design elements at the event. The walk up to the venue with bulb frames lining the path gave guests a sneak preview of what was in store.

The structures, colours, and music definitely brought about a psychedelic feel - everything was created for just one night! The highlight was a 3-tier Bollywood cake with famous Bollywood dialogues engraved on it. Guru Randhawa enthralled the guests with his songs that glammed up the evening.

Talking about the wedding and the challenges faced by Knot Married team, Prerna Agarwal, Head of Business said, "With all the details, checklists, payments and correspondence involved in planning a wedding, one might find it hard to call wedding planning "fun." Here for couples, we know wedding planning can be extremely stressful and nerve-wracking, but we're here to help and remind you that while you may feel overwhelmed at times during your wedding planning, there's plenty to enjoy along the way."
