Aster Celebrates Independence Day with ‘My India, Healthy India’ Campaign Across India

Celebrating the true spirit of independence, Aster DM Healthcare marked India’s 71st Independence Day with ‘My India, Healthy India’ campaign. The campaign was carried out by the Aster Volunteers network across all its units in India. With varied activities, the campaign spread the message regarding the importance of cleanliness and its impact on health.
Dr. Azad Moopen, Founder Chairman and Managing Director, Aster DM Healthcare said, “As India completes 70 years of independence, it was felt that we should go beyond hoisting of the flag and do something that makes a difference on the ground. It was decided to take up this mission of ‘My India, Healthy India’ to reach out to the community with various activities that will have a lasting effect on their health through prevention of disease. The program is being implemented by Aster Volunteers, a network of people with the desire to positively impact change. It includes employees as well as member of the public who are willing to spare their time for a noble cause.”
From a walkathon in Kochi, a school program in Kozhikode, street cleaning in Hyderabad, cleaning a public park in Bengaluru and a day at a special school in Kolhapur, the Aster Volunteers went about their work with a smile on their face and joy in their hearts to make this a very special Independence Day for all!
Aster Medcity, Kochi hosted a walkathon to spread the message of cleanliness and also to support the needy. Aster MIMS in Kozhikode organized many activities in addition to the school program. Initiatives included training programmes on cleanliness of self, home and neighbourhood with waste bins fixed in the area around the hospital; cleanliness of the workplace; and ‘My School, Healthy School’ health awareness initiative for government schools. Aster MIMS Kottakkal along with the Kottakkal Municipality took forward the “Clean India” drive and Aster Volunteers along with municipal corporation staff participated in cleaning the Bus Stand premises. The unit also resolved to support the training of the differently abled.DM WIMS conducted a cleanliness campaign in Puthukkad Town in association with the Jyothi Pain and Palliative Society. The MoopainadPanchayath President and volunteers from Puthukkad Merchant Association also participated in this initiative which was supported by the RipponSanthwanam Cooperative Society.
Aster CMI Bangalore organised cleaning of the Vishweswaraya Park to increase awareness about community cleanliness amongst the public. The Aster Volunteers at Aster Hospital in Kolhapur cleaned a public garden as also the ‘Chetana Vidya Mandir’, a school for special kids.Aster Ramesh Hospital organised activities like Potting, Planting and waste recycling in addition to the cleanliness drive.
Aster Prime, Hyderabad saw a quiz and painting competition being organised for children with the underlying theme of cleanliness. A donation campaign was organised for old clothes, books and toys in association with the NGO, Good Will Store. The Aster Volunteers also joined the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan efforts and cleaned the Satyam Theatre road and the road leading to the hospital’s back entrance.
The Aster Volunteers initiative provides a platform for individuals who wish to make a difference and positively impact change. This initiative was launched as a Part of Aster’s 30th Anniversary celebration. Aster DM Healthcare currently operates 317 establishments in 9 countries with 18 Hospitals, 96 clinics and 203 pharmacies providing employment for 19,258 people including 2,018 doctors, 9,656 Nurses and Paramedical staff. It has 11 hospitals across India at Kochi, Wayanad, Calicut, Kottakkal, Bengaluru, Kolhapur, Hyderabad, Guntur & Vijayawada, as of March 30, 2017. The volunteers include Aster employees as well as members of the public and have already impacted over 87000 lives across India and the West Asia. An Aster Emergency App, Basic Life Support Training, surgeries and investigation, recruitment of differently abled people, Elderly care, Home Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy, Counselling, Sanitation and Hygiene, Medical Camps, Palliative Care, Medical Concierge are some of the key initiatives that have been carried out under the Aster Volunteers initiative in this year.
The campaign was carried out by the Aster Volunteers network across all its units in India, including at Kochi, Wayanad, Calicut, Kottakkal, Bengaluru, Kolhapur, Hyderabad, Guntur and Vijayawada.
