Watermark Event Solutions Manages the Extravaganza that was Kochi Metro Launch

The first phase of Kochi Metro in Kerala covering over 13 Kilometers is the first metro in India to be launched in record time. Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) initiated a tender-based selection process to select an event management agency for this prestigious event and associated promotions. Many major event management companies from various geographies participated in the selection process. The watertight selection process set by Kochi metro Rail Ltd was a multilevel filtration tender process based on parameters which included company financial parameters, industry & event experience, unique concepts, manpower planning & execution strategy with the highlight being green protocol to be followed in the key event. Watermark Event Solutions was finally awarded the work on June 10, with just 7 days to go for the final event with many other promotional events in between.

The various pre-launch functions, promotions and events managed and executed by Watermark Event Solutions included:

Sadhya – Feast to Fest

Watermark event Solutions LLP on behalf of Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) got the wonderful opportunity to manage a sumptuous traditional Kerala Sadya for workers of Kochi metro, who worked relentlessly day and night to make the dream of Kochiites come true. The event was organized at SS Kalamandir Auditorium on June 17 and was attended by over 500 workers of Kochi metro.

KMRL officials along with MD Shri Elias George IAS were part of the feast. To add flavor the event, there were multilingual musical performance by professional artists. Some of the workers even took time off to shake a leg. To show the support, the workers jotted down their names on a message board present, and had a wonderful time taking selfies and photos from a Kochi metro photo-booth setup at the venue.

Hoardings Across Kochi

Hoardings across Kochi with daily count-down updates & changing creatives were placed at various locations in Kochi. Creatives, Operations, Logistics and the channel partners managed by Watermark Event Solutions LLP worked hand in hand to ensure the deliverables were met.

Illumination/ Lighting at Stations and Pillars

The city of Kochi donned a festive look when eleven metro stations right from Palarivattom to Aluva and also the neighboring pillars & the viaduct were adorned with blue and white color lights for 4 days from June 14 as a part of the pre-launch of the Kochi metro. The lights were visually appealing to the passersby. Electrical technicians and supervisors managed by Watermark Event Solutions worked hand in hand to achieve this wonderful fete in 4 days.

Pre-Launch Engagement at Aluva Metro Station

Cityzens at Aluva town were in for a surprise when Kochi metro Aluva station showcased the presence of one of the popular musical bands at the station as a part of Kochi metro pre-launch inaugural event on June 15. Musical band Amrutham Gamaya performed against the backdrop of the picturesque Aluva metro Station. The crowd comprising of the audience and the passersby on the highway cheered and danced to the musical splendour. The operations team from Watermark Event Solutions on behalf of KMRL managed and coordinated the event.

Inaugural Function & Décor at Palarivattom station

The Metro station at Palarivattom presented a red-carpet welcome to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan & ministers and dignitaries from the Government and officials which included E Sreedharan, KMRL MD Elias George IAS on June 17.The pathway, lift and the staircase in the station were decorated with rich flowers. The Prime Minister inaugurated the station in a ribbon-cutting ceremony and later the VVIPS proceeded to take the first ride in the metro train. Watermark operations team managed the décor and the entire setup required for the station and the inaugural function.

The metro train decorated with flowers welcomed the Prime Minister and other VVIPS for the first ride. The first ride was also live-streamed at the inauguration venue.

Inauguration Event

Kochi Metro Launch event at JLN stadium grounds saw many videos and photos still going viral over the internet.

The main event arena had a 38,000 sq. ft. AC structure with seating arrangements for 3500 guests, 1600 sq. ft. full High Definition LED walls including curved LED walls, having customized graphics and content designed by professional designers, along with other amenities which included the PM Lounge, PM Office, VIP Lounge, parking facilities, cloak room and washrooms, etc. as per the PM security protocol. This was set up at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium Grounds within a short span of 5 days by Watermark Event Solutions. A key highlight of the event was the usage of only green protocol elements where no flex or plastic was used at the venue. All the signage was hand written and the decoration works were of Fabric and other eco-friendly materials.

The inaugural event was attended by ministers, VVIPS, officials from KMRL, DRMC, Alstom, other channel partners and associates apart from invited guests. KMRL MD Elias George IAS welcomed the gathering. Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan addressed the gathering. The Prime Minister inaugurated Kochi Metro by unveiling the plaque on the dais in the presence of the VVIPS. A mobile App was also launched by the Chief Minister. Axis Bank MD Shika Sharma handed over the Axis Bank Kochi One smart card to Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu, and the event concluded with the address by Prime Minister Modi.
