T.I.C. recently executed the 4-day long Statehood Day Celebration & Festival of Arunachal, 2017 for the Government of Arunachal Pradesh, at Indira Gandhi Park in Itanagar. The event was attended by top dignitaries from the state as well as the centre, including the Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh as the Chief Guest, the Chief Minister of Arunachal Shri Pema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Chowna Mein, Chief Secretary Shakuntala Gamlin, Principal Secretary Satya Gopal, and others.
From conceptualisation till turnkey execution, T.I.C. delivered everything to perfection, despite extreme rains during the final show days. The theme of this season was Women & Child Empowerment and an apt logo was also created by T.I.C. emphasizing on Women as our ‘Janani’ (Creator) as well as our ‘Shakti’ (Power). The logo provided a much needed impetus and focus to empowering women as equal partners in the overall social & economic development.
The first day opened with a grand procession of 26 traditional groups, with around 15-20 representative tribal dancers in each group, all in their bright and colourful traditional costumes, playing their local instruments, singing their traditional songs, and dancing their way through the crowds.
While Day 1 started off by celebrating ‘The Arunachal Pradesh Statehood Day’ in an official manner, the evening was all about celebrations, kick starting the Festival of Arunachal. Hosted by Mandira Bedi as the star MC for the evening, it was studded with cultural performances, unique convergences of music, narration, dance, audio-visual and lights shows, laser shows, fireworks, all topped up by a Live performance by the queen of Bollywood, Sunidhi Chauhan to cap the day.
Day 2 was all about celebrating ‘Fashion and Creativity’, which included Folk Dances of Arunachal, a tribal fashion show, a musical fashion show by some of the country’s top fashion designers, stage performances by local Stars, and a final big bang performance by Indian Ocean.
Day 3 celebrated ‘Popular Music’, presenting an eclectic mix of Arunachal’s Traditional War Dances on one hand, and local artists of repute on the other, with the evening being topped by the one and the only, Sonu Nigam.
Day 4, the final day of the Festival had an altogether unique fusion of events. It started by certain awe inspiring performances by local school children, followed by a One Act Play. As the highlight of the evening, an exclusive Premier Show of the Bollywood Blockbuster ‘Rangoon’ was screened Live for all audiences present. That was followed by a unique Laser Storyboard & Beam Show capturing the interesting history of Arunachal Pradesh, with the evening being finally topped by a scintillating Rock Fusion Band Performance by the Underground Authority.
Apart from 4 excitement filled days of gala shows, T.I.C. had also created a giant area for the public at large, which included attractions like a Giant Food Village, a 200 strong Exhibition Stalls Area, a Flower & Orchid Show, a Special Arunachal Tea House, a Krishi & Pashu Mela Zone, a Book Fair, and a giant air-conditioned theatre structure seating over 300 VIP guests for the Arunachal Film Festival.
Despite torrential rains through most of the show days, the star attractions and shows attracted well over 10,000 to 12,000 footfalls on a daily basis, peaking during the evening’s star performances.
The event quite obviously has become the talk of the town due to its creative concept, superb execution and technologically advanced offerings. But mostly what has made this event possibly the largest of its kind to ever get organised in the State of Arunachal Pradesh, is the unique fusion that T.I.C. has so adeptly been able to stitch together between its Celebrity Performers and the local artists and traditional groups of Arunachal Pradesh.
