The Woolmark Company, a global authority on wool, organized the first edition of ‘WoolRunway’, a design competition for tertiary Indian students to give them a chance to design an outfit in merino wool for premium fashion brands. The jury round for WoolRunway was held at Trident BKC, Mumbai followed by the designer showcase at One BKC on December 21.
Toast Events in creative collaboration with The Woolmark Company, planned a unique concept offering the design students an interesting and innovative showcase for presenting their collections, highlighting the usage of wool.
The event witnessed 18 young designers presenting a novel collection highlighting the versatility of wool. Elegant and bespoke, each designer’s collection spoke volumes on their personal design aesthetics. Toast Events presented and executed concepts integrating the brand across elements subtly, yet creating impact, giving due weightage to the designers.
Extending the brand experience, Toast Events created simplistic décor amplifying the brand at the event. A unique interactive wool installation was created at the event, giving the audience an opportunity to share inspiration about wool. The installation was created with colorful wool “depicting an individual’s thought on one’s inspiration”.
Present at the event were Bollywood personalities like Vaani Kapoor, Ruslaan Mumtaaz, Shravan Reddy along with Nachiket Barve - designer, Gautam Vazirani - mentor for the designers and fashion curator at IMG, Troy Costa - Fashion Designer.
Talking of the event, Ishani Sanghavi, Client Servicing Lead, Toast Events said, “This event has been interesting for us as it gave us a platform to create something new for these young budding designers showcasing hues to their creativity at the event. The show was planned with precision timing, ensuring a perfect show.”
Talking of the event, Karan Kapoor, Operations Lead, Toast Events added, “We have a long association with Woolmark and every event has to be better than the last. A brand so clean and minimalistic, the sets are a play on white which gives us an opportunity to create out of the box designs. The venue of the event was challenging since being unconventional, but with great planning the event was smooth and successful.”
