The first edition of the Food Truck Festival, 'Food Truck Square', to be held on May 20-21 at High Street Phoenix, Mumbai, is a joint initiative by The Food Truck Association (TFTA), co-curated by Mumbai Foodie and OPA hospitality and is hosted by High Street Phoenix. The two-day food festival claims to showcase Mumbai’s best food truck culture, by partnering with over 10 food trucks that have been creating waves in the city’s foodscape. Some of the participants are Sweetish House Mafia, Bombay Food Truck, Lalit Food Truck, Paninaro, Avni & Myra's Kitchen and Snow Birds.

From American gourmet sandwiches to Lebanese delicacies, from Mexican quick eats to the best desserts - (the) Food Truck Square will bring forth the most delicious cuisines that are rolling out on Mumbai’s streets in one central location. To also personify the booming food truck scene that has amalgamated perfectly with Mumbai's street culture, the festival will also feature LIVE graffiti art via a renowned artist who will create a unique installation to serve as a reminder of the city's upcoming street food culture.

In order to pledge their case with Mumbai's governmental authorities, TFTA will also create a second installation in the form of an 'appeal board' that will allow patrons and food lovers to pledge their support or voice their concerns against Food Trucks via 'Yay or Nay' columns in order to expedite legislation regarding Food Trucks in the city.

On hosting the ‘Food Truck Square’ in Mumbai, Rajendra Kalkar, President (West), The Phoenix Mills Limited, said, “High Street Phoenix has always thrived to offer options and varieties to the patrons which they may have not experienced in the past. We have hosted events such as Itsy Bitsy- again a property of Mumbai Foodie, Dessert Garden, Totem Pole, Lil Flea Hangover amongst others. With a unique concept by Mumbai’s first food Truck festival, we hope to see a good response from our customers who are always ready to explore something new and unique every time that we offer.”

Shubham Chaudhuri, President, The Food Truck Association, added, "We need to give Mumbai's Food Truck Culture the impetus it deserves. Food Tourism is touted to be the next big league for India and is rapidly ascending as the newest, most promising value proposition for the hospitality industry country wide. This festival was conceptualised to serve as our mouthpiece to pledge to Mumbai's law bodies that Food Trucks are safe, valuable and here to stay."

The festival, to be held on May 20-21 at High Street Phoenix, Mumbai will present over 10 food trucks, including Lalit Food Truck, Paninaro, Avni & Myra's Kitchen, Snow Birds and many others.
