The Best In Travel Felicitated At The Lonely Planet Magazine India Travel Awards 2016

Currently in its fifth year, the annual Lonely Planet Magazine India Travel Awards aim to present not only the most coveted, but also the most relevant awards in the Indian travel industry. The winners for the awards are chosen on the basis of maximum votes received on nominations shortlisted by a panel of travel experts and professionals. 

The awards this year was hosted by one of India’s most sought-after master of ceremonies, the TV/Radio host and voice-over professional Siddharth Kannan, and was held at the St Regis, Mumbai, on Monday, May 9, 2016.

The panel of experts this year comprised Vardhan Kondvikar – Editor, Lonely Planet Magazine India; Manu Kashyap – Director, Windmill Holidays; Sunila Patil –Co-Founder & Director, Veena World; Madhavan Menon – Chairman & Managing Director, Thomas Cook India; Sucheta Potnis & Hans Tuinman – Founders, www.travellers-palm.com; Deep Kalra – Founder & CEO, MakeMyTrip, and Vishal Suri – Managing Director, Kuoni India.

Speaking about the awards, Vardhan Kondvikar, Editor of Lonely Planet Magazine India, said,“The Lonely Planet Magazine India Travel Awards have always centered around the travellers themselves, and are voted upon by the experiential, curious, exploratory readers of the magazine. The notable thing about these is that it is travellers effectively encouraging other travellers to go forth and try things they wouldn’t have otherwise, a cornerstone of the Lonely Planet philosophy.”

The awards saw the who’s who from the travel and entertainment industry presenting the awards and joining the winners of 2016. The event was also well-attended by the film industry and the modelling fraternity and  included names like– John Abraham, Siddharth Malhotra, Rahul Khanna, Swara Bhaskar,Amy Jackson, Divya Khosla-Kumar, Gulshan Devaiah, Sayani Gupta,Karthik Aryan, Sushruthi Krishna – fbb Femina Miss India 2016 1st runner up and fbb Femina Miss India 2016 2nd runner up.
