Sesame Workshop in India (SWI) presents ‘Learn.Play.Grow’ in collaboration with Nihar Shanti Amla. The 12-month programme aims to ensure that children attending Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) develop school readiness skills by focusing specifically on emergent literacy skills. The programme will touch 3800 AWCs in Shahjahanpur, Farukkabad, and Kannauj districts of Uttar Pradesh, reaching approximately 70,000 children and their caregivers. The initiative is targeted at addressing current challenges in the pre-primary education space by providing engaging Galli Galli Sim Sim materials (print, audio, visual and digital).

On the programme, Sashwati Banerjee, Managing Director, Sesame Workshop in India said, “A vast body of research has demonstrated that children who participate in high-quality early childhood programmes are more successful throughout their school career, are more competent socially and emotionally, and show better verbal, intellectual and physical development during early childhood than children who are not enrolled in similar programmes. Hence, the concept of early childhood education in India needs to move beyond ABC's and 123's and focus on holistic learning of children.”

Anuradha Aggarwal, Chief Marketing Officer, Marico Limited added, “Nihar Shanti Amla is an ally to progress, enabling women to become agents of change in their surroundings. The brand enables women to actively make a difference towards children's education. We are glad to associate with Sesame Workshop India (SWI) for this cause.”

The year-long programme will further school readiness among pre-primary children in 3800 Anganwadi centres using Galli Galli Sim Sim material.
