Bollywood and TV Celebrities Participate in Global Peace Initiative

The first edition of the Global Peace Initiative was organised on Nov 25 at Welingkar College of Management, Mumbai by Ample Missiion Events, Entertainment and More. The event featured a Walk for Peace, a Pledge for Peace and a Peace Awards, and saw participation from celebrities from all walks of life, who walked the ramp alongside NGO kids to spread the message of peace. Around 1000 people attended, including Bollywood celebrities, TV celebrities, sports celebrities, politicians, awardees, activists, and more. The sponsor this year was WE School.

Spearheaded by industrialist and philanthropist Aneel Murarka, Founder of Ample Missiion Events Entertainment and More LLP, the aim of the Global Peace Initiative is to honour the men and women who have been the torchbearers of peace in their respective domains - from social work to education to Bollywood. Murarka remarked, “I am so honoured to organize the 1st edition of Peace Awards. Organizing an event to honour the 26/11 martyrs is a dream i have nurtured for a long time. It’s a delight to see celebrities come forth and take this initiative forward. We as a country have borne consequences due to terrorism and now we declare that we won’t bear it anymore."  

The Walk for Peace provided a platform where celebrities walked the ramp along with Udaan Ghar, Don Bosco NGO Children children, draped in clothes specially designed for the evening by designer Manali Jagtap. The evening also included performances. Some of those present at the Walk for Peace included Zayed Khan; Manisha Koirala ( Subroton ); Deepak Dobriyal; Ritesh Sidhwani; Nushrat Bharucha;  Harshaali Malhotra; Kunal Kapoor; Bela Sehgal; Divyanka Tripathi; Yuvika Chaudhary; Roopal Tyagi; Nia Sharma; Devoleena Bhattacharjee; Neha Marda; Urvashi Rautela; Kushal Tandon; Karan Patel; Ronit Roy; Rohit Roy; Daya Shetty;  Raghu Ram; Rajiv Laxman; Namit Das; Abhinav Shukla; Dheeraj Dhoopar; Anas Rashid; Manav Gohil; Rajshree Thakur; Suchitra Pillai; Helly Shah; Nikita Dutta; Neelu Vaghela; Amar Upadhyay; Zoya Afroz; Chef Ranveer Brar; Heena Parmar; DJ Chetas; Rohit Khandelwal; Jawed Habib; Chef Ajay Chopra; Gajendra Singh; Sandhya Shetty; Alesia Raut; Vartika Singh; Prasad Bidapa; Ashley Lobo; Anang Desai; and Jayati Bhatia.

The Peace Awards felicitated Awais Sheikh, President of Indo-Pak Peace Initiatives; Jean Marie Bishop, American peace activist and Member of WILPF; Jockin Arputham, President of the National Slum Dwellers Federation Of India and a recipient  of the Ramon Magsaysay Award for Peace and International Understanding; and Maya Shahani, Founder of SAGE Foundation (under the aegis of the United Nation Alliance of Civilizations and Global Dialogue Foundation, Founder of Women’s Movement of Peace and Prosperity) for being the torchbearers of peace in their respective areas.

The event on Nov 25 at Welingkar College, Mumbai saw participation from around 1000 people from all walks of life, including Bollywood and TV celebrities, politicians and activists.
