Red FM kick-starts the ‘Red Bandstand Azaadi Festival’ in Kolkata

Red FM has kick-started the ‘Red Bandstand Azaadi Festival’ in Kolkata. The musical extravaganza will be organized in popular paras like Bhawanipur, Haridevpur, Bangur Avenue, and Kankurgachi every weekend till August 9. The last weekend of the festival will feature performances by established and upcoming bands at Saltlake City Centre. The festival aims at revolutionizing Bangla rock music in the city by providing a platform for upcoming Bengali bands.
Commenting on Red Bandstand Azadi Festival, Nisha Narayanan, COO, 93.5 Red FM said, “Rock music or alternative music is deeply rooted within the culture of Kolkata. Through Red Bandstand Azaadi Festival, we are making an attempt to search for the best Bengali Rock music and showcase this talent to a wider audience.”
The radio channel has joined hands with established Bangla bands like Chandrabindoo, the Anupam Roy Band, Fossils and Cactus, where each rock band will mentor one upcoming band each weekend, after which the upcoming band will create one original composition. Each of these original compositions in addition to four original compositions from each of the established bands will be selected for an event that will take place on August 8 and 9 at Saltlake City Centre, where all mentor bands together with the 4 shortlisted bands will also perform a rendition of one popular Bengali song. A compilation of the original compositions created during the Azaadi festival will be released as an album titled “Ajke Zamane ka” by Red FM. The channel will also showcase all talent at the festival on its digital platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
The fest will see 4 established bands mentor 4 upcoming bands every weekend.
