Savan Kotecha Universal Music India Republic Records REPRESENT Jugaad Motion Pictures

Acclaimed songwriter Savan Kotecha has teamed up with Universal Music India, Republic Records, and Represent to launch a nationwide search for India’s first global pop boy band. This initiative aims to create a group that reflects India’s rich diversity while strengthening the country’s pop music scene.

Kotecha, renowned for penning hits for international superstars like Ariana Grande, One Direction, The Weeknd, and Maroon 5, has been a dominant force in the music industry for over 15 years. His career began in Sweden, where he collaborated with legendary producer Max Martin, contributing to chart-topping songs such as "What Makes You Beautiful" and "Can’t Feel My Face".

Recognizing that India has long sought pop and teen idols from outside its borders, Kotecha hopes this project will shift the narrative. He said, “Boy bands have shaped generations around the world—now, it’s India’s turn. We want to create a group that represents India’s dreams and sparks an unprecedented wave of fandom.”

To bring this vision to life, the project has also enlisted Jugaad Motion Pictures to craft the band’s unique identity.

With this initiative, Kotecha and his partners aim to revolutionize India’s presence in the global pop music industry, creating a boy band that resonates both nationally and internationally.

After an extensive selection process, the final five members will undergo an intensive training bootcamp before making their much-anticipated debut.
