EEMA East hosted its first on-ground event 'Cyclothon 2020' post pandemic 2020 on the occasion of the 74th Independence Day, 15th August, in Kolkata. The event began with a flag off by Debashis Sen, Chairman, WBHIDCO & Additional Chief Secretary. The cyclathon started from Biswa Bangla Gate and finished at The Westin Kolkata Rajarhat.

Later in the day, Vijay Bokadia, Director, Moksh Events and Outgoing VP, EEMA East, along with Vicky Tulsiyan, new VP, EEMA East, handed over a set of draft SOPs to government dignitaries for safe events in the new normal.

The event was conceptualised taking into consideration social distancing norms. The cyclothon was an addition to the Fit EEMA initiative.

In an official statement, Bokadia expressed joy upon handing over draft SOPs for safer events to the Chairman of HIDCO, Principal Secretary to the Government of West Bengal and Deputy Commissioner, New Town Kolkata, on Independence Day.

Vicky Tulsiyan said, “Fit EEMA is a movement where we are trying to integrate fitness into the life of event managers/planners because these are the people who abuse their body the most mentally, physically and with their lifestyle by eating trash all day. Body is something which is going to give up after a particular age and people have not seen the other side of the age, where the body gives up. So, with this initiative we are trying to reintegrate their lifestyle, so it helps them at an age when the body is giving up.”

Work demands can lead to unhealthy lifestyles, noted Vicky Tulsiyan. He added, “The clients provide you with the best of hotels, meals but they don’t give you time to sleep or eat properly. So, it is time you need to figure out the way to be capable of taking care of your own health and that is what the Fit EEMA movement is all about.”
