Giant Picture Jigsaw Makes Guests Go ‘Wow’ at an Elegant Wedding by Surprise Me Event

Surprise Me Event conceptualized and executed an elegant wedding reception of an NRI couple at the Blue Sea Banquets in Worli, Mumbai, in January 2020. The function was attended by around 350 guests.

Shibani Moorjani, Founder & CEO, Surprise Me Event, suggested an elegant, romantic, and timeless theme for the reception. The agency engaged in a structured process of understanding in depth the expressed and unexpressed needs and expectations of the couple and their families, before crafting a personalized set of experiences in an ambiance aligned to their tastes and preferences. The highlight of the evening was the ‘Wow’ effect created by the agency’s signature surprises.

The team had created an e-invite for the guests in a navy blue, gold, and white scheme with a gorgeous floral design. A similar color scheme with an accent of lavender was used for the décor of the wedding reception. Just before the steps of the venue’s first entrance, bubble balls with rice lights hung from the trees with slats lit up by yellow rice lights. On either side of the steps, a line of chrome lanterns filled with rice lights and flowers were placed. 

The entrance was decorated with a floral semi-circular arch. It had big tropical leaves and multiple flowers spray-painted in gold along with a georgette fabric thrown across the poles. At the second entrance, a photo booth with a wooden textured backdrop was installed. It was decorated with suspended rings with loose flowers. Wooden crates with gold dustings on them and mirror pedestals with candles and loose flowers completed the backdrop.

On entering the banquet hall, the backdrop for the couple and guests inside the hall comprised of a waterfall between the two wooden panels, which had a very soothing effect, wooden panels were on either side of the waterfall, covered with navy blue fabric, and decorated with bubble balls with rice lights. A ring was covered with big tropical leaves and flowers, many of which spray painted in gold.

As it was a revolving reception, the seating arrangement was planned in a way to provide enough space for free movement. Both inside and outside areas had round tables with eight chairs each and on every table, overlays with tall candelabras added to the elegance of the ambiance. Keeping the tastes and preferences of the guests in mind, a mouth-watering multi-cuisine spread was arranged by Blue Sea’s catering. On the outside, the Buddha’s statue was decorated with bubble balls with Rice Lights which added to the beauty.  The décor was executed by Sangita Sharma and her team from D. Karmali & Co.

Surprise Me Event also curated a series of their signature surprises including a special ‘Welcome’ accorded to the couple by ‘Illuminated Ballerinas’, along with a performance to the couple’s favorite song ‘Perfect’ by Ed Shereen.

Next was a Jive performance of the couple’s favorite ‘Mambo No. 5’ to make them relive the time they spent together at a Jive workshop when they were getting to know each other and there was an International Pianist  that enthralled the guests with popular instrumental numbers.

The idea that stole the show was a 150-piece ‘Jigsaw Puzzle’ of the couple’s photograph, with guests penning down their messages behind the puzzle pieces. The photography was carried out by Lights Camera Vivaah by Amit Pawar.
