Mumbai recently witnessed a panel discussion by Monash University on changing trends of media consumption and it's effect on the media industry. Monash University is the largest university in Australia, ranked in the world’s top 100 and a member of the prestigious Group of Eight. The University is named after Sir John Monash, and fuelled by his desire for their students to leave with a greater sense of purpose, and the skills and confidence to create positive change. Monash University has a presence in four continents. Their work is making an impact all over the world, from bringing clean water to villages in Africa to creating new life-saving medicines.

Monash University is active in over 150 fields of research and works closely with government and industry. Many of their ideas – such as a new Malaria vaccine and 3D-printed engines – have been commercialized and are making a difference to the world we live in every day.

Held on February 20, 2019, at Jagran Prakashan Ltd., Mumbai – India, Panel discussion by Monash University on Changing Trends of Media Consumption and Its Effect On Media Industry. This interactive seminar session was conducted to bring awareness about careers in the media and communication sector post relevant qualifications say it be at Bachelors / Masters.

RJ Pulkit from Radio City hosted the evening and engaged the media students. This interactive session served as a field trip to the students. They visited Radio city studio and learned more about how the radio industry functions. Rob Cioffi, Manager Student Recruitment, Faculty of Arts, Monash University gave a brief introduction about Monash University to panelists and the students, Industry Specialist from various streams of media were part of this discussion. Panelists shared their experience with the students of St. Xavier’s College. Panelist such as Sagorika Kantharia - Hr head Jagran Group, Ashit Kukian - CEO, Radio City, Sandeep Khosla - Chief Executive Officer, Mid-Day, Johan Lidberg - Deputy Head Of Journalism And Director Of The MA Journalism In The School Of Media, Film And Journalism At Monash University, Saurabh Kanwar - Co-Founder at atkt.in were present in the panel discussion.
This Panel discussion gave an Industry overview to students and Panelist helped them showing a clear image of how the industry functions. Many topics related to media consumption and new trends were covered in this event. The topics discussed in the panel discussion were based on various media like Print, Radio, Digital, etc.
The challenges faced by newcomers in the media industry were discussed by Sagorika Kantharia. Ashit Kukian representing radio discussed on the most interesting trends for 2019 In the field of Radio. Sandeep Khosla advised young people considering a career in journalism and talked about the myths and misconceptions about journalists. Saurabh Kanwar shared his experience of working with various mediums and how the trends and its consumption is impacting the media industry with the students. Johan Lidberg talked about how Monash University looks towards shaping the future of Journalist and Media students.
After this panel discussion students got a chance to ask questions to the industry specialists in Q&A session. Monash University trusted Jagran Solutions for this event because it is a group company which comes under the umbrella of Jagran Prakashan LTD and has established a good rapport in organizing such events. Jagran Solutions has good exposure to various media streams.
