Banyan Tree is back with the 10th edition of the Khusrau-Kabir Festival in Mumbai. The decade-long festival celebrates the works of two eminent poets - Hazrat Amir Khusrau and Saint Kabir. The festival will take place on August 03, 2018 at Nehru Centre Auditorium in Mumbai.

India has been blessed by the presence of several poet saints through centuries. Among the most revered and popular from north India are Hazrat Amir Khusrau and Saint Kabir. Aptly titled concert Khusrau-Kabir celebrates the rich legacy of the two great geniuses whose works continue to guide music and poetry aficionados even today. 

The works of both these great poets are often presented in a traditional format. However, at the Khusrau-Kabir concert, some of the eminent vocalists will present these compositions in an innovative contemporary style connecting the ancient works with the twenty-first century.

The artist line-up for the event includes Pooja Gaitonde, Arya Ambekar, Dr Saleel Kulkarni (Contemporary Presentations), Mukhtiyar Ali (Kabir), Nizami Brothers (Qawwali). Banyan Tree’s Khusrau – Kabir is a way of paying a tribute to these supreme saint poets and remembering their unmatched and extraordinary contribution to the world of Indian Performing Arts.

Talking about the Festival, Nandini Mahesh, Director, Banyan Tree said, "In our contemporary segment we present young, bright and talented artists who interpret the works of Hazrat Amir Khusrau and Sant Kabir. We are trying to showcase how the works of these two great poets are relevant even to the listeners and performers of the 21st century."
