Inaugural Edition of the 'Pop Culture Forum' by Comic Con India Concludes on a High Note!

Comic Con India concluded the inaugural edition of the ‘Pop Culture Forum’ presented by Maruti Suzuki on a high note! The Comic Con India - ‘Pop Culture Forum’ took place on March 23’ 2018 at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.

A first of it’s kind convention in India, the Pop Culture Forum, was dedicated to burgeoning pop culture industry in the country, featuring panels and talks from key industry players along with the Comic Con India Industry Awards, recognising the best in Comics and Pop Culture in the country. The forum witnessed interesting Panels on Comics & Brands; Pop Culture Retail in India; Rise of E Sports in India & Taking Indian Comics Global.

Jatin Varma, Founder, Comic Con India, shared, "With the Inaugural edition of the Forum, we were finally able to bring together all the key stakeholders of the various industries that come under the umbrella of Pop Culture. With the forum our aim was to shine a spotlight on this fast growing sector and highlight the achievements so far. We hope to build up on the success of this first edition and come back next year bigger & better.”

The forum also featured the Comic Con India Industry Awards Instituted in the first year of Comic Con India (CCI)  as an organization, to honor & provide recognition to the burgeoning comics & graphic arts community in the country. Over the past 7 years, CCI has had the privilege to highlight & support the tremendous work being done by the industry.

And with this edition of the Awards, CCI wished to continue their commitment to not only, the cause of Indian comics & graphic arts, but also to the larger pop culture community in the country, with an expansion of the award categories to cover the business side of pop culture.

This year’s awards featured a total of 15 Categories along with 1 Special Award. The Comic Book Categories were open to nomination and with over 35 nominees from various publishers and creators across the country, the winners were selected by the Comic Con India Core team.

For the Business categories, the nominees and winners were selected basis Independent consumer research conducted with thousands of fans across India, at various CCI shows & events.

“With the Comic Con India Industry Awards, our aim is to highlight the quality of work being in the Comics & Graphic Arts in India and with the expanded business categories this year, we were able to showcase the achievement of various business in this sector. I wish to congratulate all the nominees & winners this year!”, said Jatin Varma.
