Live Quotient Exclusive artist Bhavana Bhatia gives us some insights on what makes her an emcee adept at hosting any and every kind of event. Bhavana has been in the entertainment industry for over a decade and is currently ranked as the best emcee in India by the USA TV News. She is also among the TOP 100 women in India awarded by 'Wearethecity' based out of UK.

How do you ensure each of your events is memorable?

An emcee is somebody who is the face and the voice of the event for the brand. It is surely a mighty job to execute the event with perfection every single time. My role doesn’t lie just to do the introduction and announce the awards but also to weave every aspect of the event to ensure it is truly entertaining and rather memorable for the audience. With over 8 years of emceeing events I ensure that every event has a creative aspect from my side. For the entertainment factor I ensure -

- There is a 'Great Start' to the event - Unique power packed entry every single time followed by a great ice breaker as this allows me to know my audience better and the audience gets to know me

- Keeping up the Entertaining Energisers - It's very important for an emcee to maintain the tempo of the event and I ensure that every event I emcee has the audience always involved, be it an energy packed concert like Bollyboom New Year Bash 2017 I hosted for Percept Live, or multiple conferences and summits I hosted for brands like Manchester United, Apple, Reliance Group, Tata’s, Mahindra’s to name a few

- Always ensure there are Celebrity Interactions - If there is a celebrity involved it is very important to engage with ease with the celebrity on and off stage. In the wide range of events I hosted with celebrities like Sab Ke Anokhien Awards, a highly engaging awards recognition with Priyanka Chopra in Taj Lands in 2014 for Percept, Press Launch for the Trident group with Kirti Sanon, co-emceeing with Aman Yatan Verma during the Crompton Greaves World Day I ensured as an emcee as I was very involving and engaging

- Summarising - Summarising a session is very crucial for the emcee at the end of every panel discussion session. I have a rich background of finance, investments, economy, and law. The rich knowledge and my interest in topics helps me fluently summarise every discussion

- Great end - I always ensure there is a great end to any event I emcee

At the risk of sounding too full of myself, I would like to add that I am also a skilled singer, dancer and an extremely witty and a very engaging host. I always try and interact with my audience in multiple ways. I am comfortable with both, televised shows and live shows as I can manage both the genres with excellence.

Merging the client brief with creative liberties - How difficult it is to balance both?

Well honestly it isn’t difficult at all! I always choose to be well prepared for all my shows as for me it might be just another show but for the client it is that one annual day where the dealers are getting rewarded, it is that one wedding that the couple is super excited about, the one concert the entire audience is looking forward to or the one launch on which many business groups depend upon.

If it is a highly engaging show I ensure there is a con-call done between me and the events head of the show so as to understand the nature, theme, kind of audience. It always helps to know the parameters beforehand as that helps you to plan your interactions well suited to the theme.

I have been blessed to have worked with the best event companies from the start of my career. So honestly I would say I have never faced any issue as they ensure that I get all I need to execute the event to perfection. A big thank you for the relentless efforts put in by the event managers.

As an emcee, what is the one compliment from your clients that always makes you smile?

The one compliment which forever makes me smile is the way I conduct the show with the grace, professionalism, and charm . The biggest of Brands like  Manchester United, Apple, Trident, Reliance Group, Mahindra & Mahindra, Larsen & Toubro, Hindustan Unilever, Nokia, Samsung, Novartis, Germen Remedies, GAC Shipping, Abbott India, Volvo, Shahpoorji Pallonji group, Dassault Systemes, Dabur, Cognizant, Capgemini, Zee group have hired me because they feel that I could be the face and voice for their event. That I can help them fulfil the purpose of doing the event and also take it one step higher.

Your biggest strength as an emcee...

My biggest strength as an emcee lies in my experience. I have had the experience of hosting for over 7 years with the biggest of clients across the world be it her first show being in 2011 for Toshiba Premiere League with the cricket Maestro Sachin Tendulkar, ABCD Dance Championship with Remo D'souza, 5 Pan India events for Accenture in India, Trident Press Launch with Kriti Sanon, Dabur Star Awla ki Khoj with Priyanka Chopra, I-Phone 5s launch, Nokia Lumia 520 Launch, Samsung Presidents Club, Dassault Systemes 2 day retreat in Goa, Asia's Most trusted Brand Awards in Bangkok, Hem Group of Companies 100 year celebration with Mahima Chaudhary, CG World Day with Aman Yatan Verma, Fitchner 25 years celebrations, XS India Nationwide Launch with Anushka Manchanda, Bollyboom New Years for Percept Live with DJ chetas, Dr Zeus & Ali Merchant, and more. I have handled all the events with perfection. So I believe it is my diversity and the number of years experience that is my biggest strength which allows me to always think on my feet and give that extra effort every event.

What has been the biggest challenge as an emcee?

I personally feel there is no challenge once you are well prepared for every show and you carry a lot of experience in the events industry. It’s all about how you conduct yourself that matters. My personal saying goes, "You are as good as your last show so since events is a live industry you can not afford a mistake. One has to be very particular of the brief of the event, know about the client, be thorough with the pronunciations, be thorough with the names, be through with the sequence, and most important be mentally present throughout the event. It could be a 45-mins press conference to a full-day conference followed by an awards night , an anchor has to be mentally present and carry the same energy and enthusiasm throughout the show.
