The first edition of the Mumbai Shopping Festival 2018 came to an end leaving the #MUMBYUYKARS excited for the next edition. The Mumbai Shopping Festival is a joint IP between OMCPL and the Govt. of Maharashtra with the Hon. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis as its Ambassador.

The first edition of the Mumbai Shopping Festival took Mumbai by storm exceeding all expectations with #MUMBUYKARS participating with gusto and enthusiasm. For over 20 days Mumbai witnessed 3 Night markets, which went on till 4 am with more than half a million shoppers enjoying street shopping and food trucks.

With more than 5,000 brands and 10 of the largest malls on sale across the city, the festival also featured shoppers winning electronics, gold, bikes, holidays, cars and ready to move in home in Mumbai as a bumper prize during the festival. Interestingly, in addition to shopping the festival was also about entertaining and engaging the city and with 13 stages at prime public locations including Worli, Bandra, Vashi, Belapur, Thane, Powai, Chembur, Kandivali, and at the Airport with more than 630 performances. The City of Mumbai was enthralled.

The Mumbai Shopping Festival is now ready to be counted amongst the biggest shopping Festivals in the World with not only the largest retail/hotel/business/travel/airline and mall associations in the city supporting it but the city itself came out to support the festival in large numbers. The social media impressions generated by the festival was terrific as it received more than a million hits in 3 weeks.

Rahul Gomes Managing Director of OMCPL and Chief Curator of MSF commented, “Planning and implementing of a festival of this size and scale usually takes four to six months but we had 10 days only because the approval process was happening at the highest levels in the Government, that too over the Christmas and New Year weekend, so we knew we had to create the biggest festival for Mumbai despite the limited time. The only reason the festival happened and that too super smoothly was because everyone working on it was in the MSF zone for months prior and we were very clear about their roles and responsibilities. Teams worked 24x7 to make this happen and slept at the venues and vanity vans pulling on their reserve strength to push this out. Each person working on the festival from our interns, directors to even the on-ground partners and teams who treated this festival as their own and more importantly knew they were a part of making history with the MSF being the first of its kind in India. We are proud to have achieved this and will continue growing this year on year with a vision of making this into the largest shopping festival in the world.”
