Africa Global Business Forum 2017 Done Events
The Africa Forum held under the theme “Next Generation Africa” is the largest Africa-centric conference to be held outside the African continent and Done Events received the mandate to ensure the grand scale event was a successful one for all involved.
The Global Business Forum series was held under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and ruler of Dubai. The exhibitions showcased the best of sponsors such as Dubai Islamic Bank and Standard Bank while taking a 10m circular space was Expo2020 which developed a Learning Lab to allow delegates to get a greater understanding of what Dubai Expo2020 will bring not only to the region but the world.

Done Events delivered the project in conjunction with the team at Dubai Chamber who wanted elements that would wow the 3,000 traveling delegates while showcasing the link between the UAE and Africa. The main stage was particularly impressive with a 42m x 4m curved projection screen, which helped to immerse the audience in the full-scale opening video animation.

Joharah ballroom was used to its full effect with a breakout stage, media center and exhibition area sharing the same space. “The challenge was to creatively design the hall so that the Media could get privacy and listen to the talks on the breakout stage while keeping an eye on the live feed from the Main Stage at the same time,” said Vivek Velani, Event Director at Done Events. “The open feeling meant that the Media was also close to the sponsor area and could get first-hand knowledge of the delegate experience”, he continued.

Instead of the standard gala dinner setup, a cultural exchange evening was curated, bringing together brands from the UAE and different African countries in sectors such as Fashion, Heritage and Design, Creative Commodities as well as Live Cooking, Speed Painting to both Arabic and African music and Musical entertainment through Ayallah dancers and African drummers.

With “Next Generation Africa” as a theme, the Africa Forum was the largest Africa-centric conference to be held outside the African continent.
