Lexus India has partnered with the Association of Designers of India (ADI) to announce the Lexus Design Award India. The aim of the awards is to provide a boost to the Indian design community. The festival will also collaborate with the prestigious Pune Design Festival (PDF), as the first round of the annual awards ceremony will be conducted in conjunction with PDF in February 2018.
Though the Lexus Design Award has been recognising and rewarding the best industrial design, design consultancy firms, and design divisions of Indian companies since 2013 globally, this is the first time the festival has come to India. Design prototype of the winners will be displayed at Lexus Guest Experience Centers located in Bangalore, Gurgaon, Mumbai, and New Delhi. Additionally, other impressive designs also stand a chance to be showcased at the Pune Design Festival. Furthermore, all shortlisted entries will also be featured across Lexus India’s social assets, and the winners will receive trophies designed specially by Michael Foley.
“Lexus sees incredible potential in the Indian design community and the Lexus Design Award India will acknowledge the zenith of those whose designs embody the spirit of imagination, craftsmanship and design on which our brand is built,” said Akitoshi Takemura, President, Lexus India, “As a platform, the Lexus Design Award India represents a huge opportunity for winning designs in India to gain recognition here – and globally.”
Lexus Design Award India will see entries judged across 11 categories, some of which are, Product Design, Textile Design, Design Thinking, and more. The dealine for participants to send in their entries will be January 31, 2018 and the winners will be announced during PDF to be held on February 17, 2018. The jury panel evaluating the entries comprises of: Neelam Chhiber (Jury Chairperson), Amit Krishn Gulati, Ashish Goel, Sangeeta Sen, Ranjan Malik, Prof. Dhimant Panchal, and Suresh Venkat (Awards Curator).
