United Music Festival is known to bring the best music to audiences in the city, and after two successful editions of EDM festivals, they have ventured into doing entertainment events throughout the year exploring all genres of music. For their first mega HOLI event, they presented actress and celebrity DJ Shilpi Sharma who is popular with her BDM mixes in an event that took place at Orchid Gardens on March 13.
As part of a unique initiative by A2z Events, Kolkata set a new Limca & India Book of Records of 180 people eating 1500 Jalebis together at one go in 2 minutes and 30 seconds.
The last record made in Mumbai where 875 jalebis were eaten was broken by the enthuasistic crowd at UNITED HOLI event that commenced the celebration with this record-breaking activity in the presence of Pyaar ka Punchnama Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan.
In addition to this, 7 leading DJs from Kolkata — DJ Akash Rohira, DJ Girish, DJ felix and others, played Bollywood, Fusion and Special Holi Mixes creating the holi magic. Along with this, folk music troupe Bawalia played at the event adding a traditional feel to the holi music. A2z Events, driven by its passion for innovation and creativity, has also initiated a first of its kind setup with the theme “Recycling Items” for the HOLI stage and décor.
Speaking on the occasion, co-organiser Zawed Ali, A2Z events said, “UNITED brings people together for music, dance & celebration and we thought what better way to mark this holi by setting a fun record together. This is the second time we have attempted a record event in Kolkata. We did that with 1400 kite flyers in our event Udaan earlier and now we feel humbled to do it again for Kolkata.”
Adding to this, co-organiser Aparajita Chowdury, A2Z events said, “We like to offer something different all the time and contribute to society in our own small way. Apart from using recycling products for UNITED stage, we have ensured a minimal water usage in our event, with focusing mainly on organic colours along with innovative elements like colour blast, foam set up, paint ball arena, flower shower to name a few. We have also created a special zone for kids at the venue and invite kids from different NGOs to be a part of the gala holi celebration.”
Riding on the success of performing breakthrough music and unique activities, “United” is strengthening its ties with the people of Kolkata. The daylong celebration with music, dance, food, & thandai witnessed a Giant Cake Cutting Ceremony followed by a gifting session for NGO Kids.

An initiative by United Music Festival, a property of a2z events, United Holi is the first mega Holi event organised in Kolkata, and took place on March 13 at Orchid Gardens
