The 4th Edition of Comic Con India Concludes in Hyderabad

Comic Con India hosted pop culture event ‘Alto Hyderabad Comic Con 2016’ over the weekend at Hitex Exhibition Centre, Hyderabad. The show hosted a spectacular lineup of events including special international guest appearances, exclusive experiential & gaming zones, an artist alley, fans sessions, cosplay, book launches and more.
Comic Con India is part of the Reedpop family of events, which is dedicated to producing world-class celebrations of popular culture around the world with events like New York Comic Con, Oz Comic Con, Shanghai Comic Con, Star Wars Celebration among many others.
On the response to the event, Jatin Varma, Founder, Comic Con India remarked, “4 years in Hyderabad and the fans in the city never disappoint! We at Comic Con India wish to thank them for their enthusiasm for helping us make this the best weekend of the year. As always we’ll be back next year bigger & better!”
Famous international personalities like Afshan Azad, British born Bangladeshi actress, known for her performances as Padma Patil in five of the Harry Potter films; Dan Parent, American comic book artist and writer best known for Archie Comics; David Lloyd, British comics artist best known for V for Vendetta; Nicole Marie Jean, a famous cosplayer, artist, sculptor and designer from San Diego, California attended and took special sessions at HCC 2016.
The excitement at Alto Hyderabad Comic Con increased even more with a special surprise from Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 as they brought Hyderabad's very own Baba Sehgal at the show! He was there at the event both days hitting it up with the audience on the stage!
Cosplay (Costume Contest), another major attraction at Comic Con India, gave prizes to people in great costumes. Comic Con India had created 5 categories, and each day, one winner was chosen from each of the five categories: Comic book/graphic novel; Animated Series/Movie; Manga/Anime; Sci-Fi/Fantasy; and Gaming. Also, on both days, one lucky winner out of the chosen 5 won a cash prize of INR 50,000.
Comic Con India set up Exclusive Experiential and Gaming Zones at the event. Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 Experience Zone had awesome art installations and gaming for fans. Nodwin Gaming Zone had a slew of interesting gaming activities & the Board Gaming Zone gave a chance to people to relive the good old days with the most exciting mix of classic and new tabletop games.
One of the main attractions of the event was the first of its kind Wand Master Training Booth (By Warner Bros) & WWE Zone. At the Wand Master Training Booth, people learnt to use wands to create official spells and got the video of their experience too.
And at the WWE Zone, fans seemed really excited walking the grand stage on their favorite WWE Superstar’s entrance music. The zone gave fans a never-before, unmatched experience; a chance to feel, act, and enter the ring just like their favorite WWE Superstar!
Another exclusive Experiential Zone at Alto Hyderabad Comic Con was the AXN Zone, where fans got to witness some of their favourite characters like Sam & Dean, Sherlock, Heisenberg, Dexter, etc. come alive.
'Artist Alley' featuring artists from all over India and Hyderabad was set up at HCC 2016. Here fans got an opportunity to interact with awesome artists, illustrators, designers working for comics and related fields. The alley featured artists like Saumin Suresh Patel, Abhijeet Kini, Reshmi Chandrashekhar, Nikita Das Gupta, Leena Swamy, Rohit Soni, Garima Shukla, Ayan Nag, Venkata P., Rajeev Tamhankar, Milanpreet, Vinay Brahmania, Madhuvanthi Mohan, Mayank Kumar and many more.
Well known creators like Vivek Goel from Holy Cow Entertainment, Aniruddho Chakraborty from Chariot Comics, Shamik Dasgupta from Yali Dreams were there too.
For the sheer love for Comics, 9 new Comic Book titles got launched at the convention. These were Fanboys by Abhijeet Kini Studios, Aghori - The Lost Years by Holy Cow Entertainment, The Beatles – All Our Yesterdays by Campfire Graphic Novel, Damned by Chariot Comics, Rakshak by Yali Dream Creations, Merjella - The Super Mermaid by Dream Blooms Media, Sirji Comics - Volume 2 by Sirji Comics, 13 Days and Sagar by TBS Planet.
At the convention, fans got to buy merchandise from International merchandisers from across the globe. Also, there were exclusive Indian merchandisers including Planet Superheroes, The Entertainment Store, Green Gold, Mc Sid Razz, Alpha Vector, Anime Pop Mall, Bombay Merch, Macmerize, Ai Licensing, Goal Squad, Comic Planet, Hoozinc, I love being Hyderabadi, CEX We Buy Entertainment and lots more!!
The main participants at Alto Hyderabad Comic Con 2016 were Viz Media, Random House India, HarperCollins Publishers India, Campfire Graphic Novels, Holy Cow Entertainment, Yali Dream Creations, ICBM Comics, Sirji Comics, Red Streak Publications, Thought Bubble Studio, Dreamblooms Media and many more.
