IDBI Federal Life Insurance Mumbai Half Marathon to See More than 15,000 Participants

The IDBI Federal Life Insurance Mumbai Half Marathon, which is to be held on August 21 will see enthusiastic Indian marathoners take to the city roads to create an exciting running experience. Starting at the iconic Oval Maidan in Churchgate, the route for this marathon will cover prominent historical landmarks in South Mumbai, and is all set to reacquaint participants with the awe-inspiring coastal city. Sachin Tendulkar, face of the Marathon will also be present at the event to cheer participants.
Providing a platform for Indian runners and promoting distance running in India, this marathon will see more than 15000 participants across four categories - 21K Half Marathon, 10K Timed Run, 10K Corporate Relay and 5K Heritage Run. The total prize money for this event is set at Rs. 30 lakh across various categories.
Talking about how the event is being promoted through different channels, Karthik Raman, CMO, Head Products & Strategy, IDBI Federal remarked, “Taking the excitement to a new level, we have also launched a video to build momentum for the event. The video with a catchphrase ‘'chala, pudhe chala' beautifully combines the city’s fast paced life and the emerging marathon/running culture.”
The race will see runners from all walks of life and across different age groups participate. There has been an overwhelming response in registrations for the IDBI Federal Life Insurance Mumbai Half Marathon. 5000 entries have come in for the Mumbai Half Marathon and 4500 for the 10K Timed Run. Another 6000 participants will take to the road in the 5K Heritage Run.
On the response to the event, Nagaraj Adiga, Race Director, IDBI Federal Life Insurance Mumbai Half Marathon said, “We are truly amazed with the response we have received from Mumbaikars. We have so far had some great promo runs in the city and are totally looking forward to final race day. We are totally excited and promise to make this a memorable running experience for the marathoners.”
The event on August 21 will have 4 categories - a 21K Half Marathon, 10K Timed Run, 10K Corporate Relay and 5K Heritage Run. The total prize money for this event is set at Rs. 30 lakh.
