Western Union, the global leader in payment services, announced its Ramadan Campaign titled ‘30 Days of Betters’ aimed at making people’s lives better and driving positive societal change. The Campaign will engage money transfer recipients from selected locations in India by providing them an opportunity to contribute the amount they win towards the betterment of society or oneself. Upto 1 Lakh is up for grabs every day, throughout the holy month of Ramadan.

‘30 Days of Betters’ is a community-building exercise that will provide rewards to individuals, so they can perform acts of kindness aimed towards benefitting individual, or society at large. Apart from India, the programme has been simultaneously launched in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, and will run until Eid Al Fitr in early July 2016.

During the 30 days of Ramadan, lucky draw winners will identify 30 small yet significant acts of goodness and charity throughout the country that they can carry out in their individual capacity. Each money transfer sent via Western Union® services from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand during the promotion period (June 6 - July 5) and paid out in the Indian states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Punjab, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka or Kerala, will enable the recipient to enter the daily lucky draws.

There will be a total of 30 lucky draws and 786 winners. 30 grand prize winners will each receive 10 times the amount of money indicated in their Western Union transaction receipts (subject to a maximum amount of Rs 100,000). 756 “regular prize” winners will receive Rs 2,100 each. Lucky draws will be organized each day to announce winners, starting from the June 13 and will continue for the next 30 days. Western Union will also launch a campaign video where five of the good deeds showcased.

Gaurav Yadava, Western Union, Country Director for India said, “Western Union has selected this time of the year to connect with consumers and spread happiness, as people wish for the well-being of their loved ones during Ramadan. During these 30 days, our users can think beyond themselves and initiate an act to benefit the society. The holy month of Ramadan emphasizes the values of helping others and the 30 selfless acts will further encourage the community to reach out to the less fortunate and spread the message of doing good this Ramadan.”

The ‘30 Days of Betters’ programme is a part of Western Union’s® ‘Chain of Betters’ which funds projects that make lasting positive changes for communities around the world and aims to move money for better.

The ‘30 Days of Betters’ campaign also engages Indian money transfer recipients in selected locations by providing a chance to contribute towards the betterment of society and themselves.
