A for Pineapple managed the Sony Family Day on Feb 29 in Delhi at the J.W Marriott, Aerocity. With the theme ‘Starnival’, the event engaged employees through various activities and performances, both by employees themselves and a number of performers. Around 500 employees were engaged through this event, while together with their families the number of guests present at the event were around 1500.
Sony Electronics was looking to deliver a quality experience for their employees and families, and A for Pineapple was chosen to execute this a second time in a row through a multi-agency pitch. The agency won on the basis of its ideas and overall package, where the brief was to make employees and their families feel special, while ensuring the event was bigger and better than any of the previous years.
Talking about the brief and the concept, Ajit Singh, North Regional Head, A for Pineapple said, “Our proposition was to treat the employees and their families like superstars - give them the importance a star gets. Because they truly deserve it. Without them there wouldn’t be anything. The event had to sound like a huge celebration of stars coming together. And after a series of meetings with the client and going back and forth, we created the event theme ‘Starnival – A Carnival of Sony Stars’. We won the pitch but this was only the beginning of a challenge we had created for ourselves. And we had to somehow execute it”.
The agency conceptualized an event where right from the first step the audience felt like stars. Pre-event buzz was created one week prior to the event through multiple e-mailers and exciting office activities like the ‘The Wishing Tree’ and ‘Vote for Your Favourite Star’. The workspace was decorated with star-shaped countdown standees, event danglers and posters.
The event itself saw guests enter the venue through a dazzling entrance under stars. A huge marquee structure was constructed for guests to leave their signatures on, while different zones were set up including a casino zone, playstation zone, bunjee jumping and kids zone. Completing this mammoth setup in limited hours was a challenging task for the agency, which together with its associates successfully completed the production, stage set-up and artist and tech rehearsals.
A huge 78x30 ft stage was built for the evening’s performances. To give a starry Award night feel to the stage, multiple vertical LED pillars and light pillars were used.
The evening was hosted by Jay Bhanushali and Sonali Gupta. To showcase in-house talent, there were also a few performances by employees, who also walked the ramp in a thematic fashion show, followed by a series of performances by the families and kids.
To add glitz and glamour to the night, A for Pineapple also brought on stage a range of professional performers to entertain the families. These included the international band Violin Queens, India’s Got Talent winner Manik Paul, and winners of IGT and Jhalak Dikhlaja Sonali and Sumanth, who rocked the stage with their electrifying dances. Further, Mouni Roy set the stage on fire with her scintillating performances, followed by the songstress Akriti Kakkar, who had the crowd dancing to her Bhangra, Bollywood and Punjabi beats late into the evening.
