Reliance Jio Begins Digital Run With Amaravati Marathon

The Jio Amaravati Marathon held on Jan 10, 2016 proved to be the perfect hotspot for Reliance Jio to begin its digital journey as a lead sponsor for the much talked about sports event. Thousands of professionals and fitness enthusiasts came together for the half marathon (10 Km and 5 Km runs), which was flagged off from the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium in Vijayawada by Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu, DGP JV Ramudu, and others dignitaries.

On the same occasion, Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL) announced the launch of ‘Jionet’ High Speed Wi-Fi service which is now available at MG Road in Vijayawada. The service was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N Chandrababu Naidu, who is credited with technology-driven policies and development agenda.

People visiting MG Road in Vijayawada will now be able to use internet through ‘Jionet’ WiFi network. Currently, this Jio service is complimentary and was presented as a special gift from the Chief Minister to the citizens of Vijayawada, on the auspicious occasion of Sankranthi.

Commenting on the event, KS Venugopal, Regional Head- South, Reliance Jio said, “We are proud to be associated with Andhra Pradesh (AP) government’s vision of Digital AP. The people of AP will be able to experience the digital ecosystem that Jio is building. Jio is motivated to end the digital divide by bringing cutting edge (true 4G) technology to people from all sections of the society, to enrich and empower lives.”

At the Jio Amaravati Marathon, Reliance Jio also showcased its Digital Healthcare solution to all the participants and visitors. People visiting the demo stall underwent height, weight and body Mass Index (BMI) checks. After this, walk-ins also experienced High Definition Video Consultation on Jio Chat. Based on their BMI, they were given Dietary consultations followed by a demonstration of Doctor’s Consultation Fees Transfer via Jio Money.  Post consultation, visitors also experienced the Jio Health Hub Application - a one stop solution to any and every Medical records storage of self and family members.

The occasion also served as the first platform to showcase LYF devices, equipped with cutting edge VoLTE technology, which brings home the true 4G experience. Apart from this, Jio Chat, the recently launched instant messaging app also introduced localised stickers created by renowned cartoonist & illustrator Neelabh Banerjee. These stickers bring out the cultural ethos of Amaravati, the new capital of Andhra Pradesh and are symbolic to the city.

‘Jionet’ High Speed Wi-Fi service was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N Chandrababu Naidu and is now available for complimentary use at the MG Road in Vijayawada.
