NH7 Weekender EEMA Delhi Tourism

With the easing of licensing norms and continued support from the Tourism Ministry, Delhi is all set to shed its notoriety as one of the worst venues in the country for big-ticket events. Recently, the Kejriwal government had implemented the single-window clearance for events in the capital, following the Event & Entertainment Management Association’s (EEMA) efforts for more event-friendly policies. The Zubin Mehta concert was the first event to be held under this system. Delhi Tourism and EEMA have now announced a partnership to promote and support tourism oriented events in the city. NH7 Weekender featuring A R Rahman would be the first big event to benefit from this new association, while Sunburn could be the next.

Delhi’s tourism minister Kapil Mishra described the new association as a true model of public-private partnership that can be replicated elsewhere in the country. He said, “EEMA represents some of the biggest event and entertainment agencies which put together some of the greatest shows, festivals, concerts and entertainment events in the country. We are proud to offer the entire event industry joint branding support to promote these events in Delhi. This, in addition to the model single window event licensing system, will make Delhi, the hub of cultural and entertainment events.”

Having said that he has paid for his tickets, the minister commented on the prevalent “Free Pass” system and warned of zero tolerance for bribery at events using misleading and misinterpreted regulations and blatant misuse of power. He promised that the Arvind Kejriwal government will ‘ensure that the highest standards of probity, morality and sincerity are maintained.’

Speaking about the association with Delhi Tourism, EEMA President Sabbas Joseph said, “We are delighted that Delhi Tourism has embraced the events industry in order to put this initiative in place with EEMA, the country’s apex body for the events industry. We do hope that it is an example that other states will follow across the country. We are certain that NH7 Weekender will spread happiness and demonstrate what this partnership can mean for the people and the economy.”

The NH7 Weekender is scheduled to be held in Delhi on Nov 28 - 29, 2015, at Dwarka Sector 10. The previous editions of the music festival were held in Noida. A R Rahman will headline this year’s Delhi edition of the fest featuring artists across diverse genres playing on five different stages across the weekend. Global names like Mark Ronson, Flying Lotus, Mogwai, Rodrigo y Gabriela, SBTRKT alongside Indian favourites like Vishal Dadlani, Niladri Kumar, Dr. L Subramaniam, Arka, Selvaganesh, Hriday Gattani, Nucleya, Parikrama, The Raghu Dixit Project, Ankur & The Ghalat Family, Swarathma and many more will perform at the event.

The Delhi edition of the music festival will be held at Dwarka Sector 10 on Nov 28 - 29, 2015.
