Amadeus Sri Lanka Pimp my Tuk Tuk challenge
The leading transaction processor and advanced technology solution provider for global travel and tourism industry, Amadeus has announced its participation in the “Pimp My Tuk Tuk Challenge 2015”. Combining tourism with charity, PMTT is organized to raise funds for rural empowerment in Sri Lanka.
40 corporate leaders will travel 1200 kms across the Sri Lankan countryside on 20 custom designed Tuk Tuks for a week in September. Amadeus will be represented by Simon Akeroyd, Vice President, Corporate Strategy and New Business. The participants are a diverse group of people from different walks of life, including managing directors, former CEOs, international money brokers, investment consultants, managers, directors and entrepreneurs.
The funds raised from the event will be donated to the Foundation of Goodness in Sri Lanka. This will be used to bridge the gap between rural and urban sectors, by empowering less privileged communities in the country. Contributions will also be made to ‘Food from the Heart’ in Singapore, which will used in the food distribution programme for the underprivileged. During the challenge, the Tuk Tuks will also collect donations of clothing, school and sports equipment to be distributed among local schools along the way.
Speaking about Amadeus participation in the challenge, Dennis Fonseka, Country Manager, Sri Lanka and Maldives, Amadeus said; “At Amadeus we strongly believe in giving back to the society. The ‘Pimp my tuk-tuk challenge’ 2015- Sri Lanka gives us a perfect opportunity to blend travel with our beliefs for the community. I would also like to take this opportunity to applaud the efforts of Simon Akeroyd, who is contributing to this endeavour not only with money but his precious time as well to make a difference in the lives of people.”
Combining tourism with charity, the challenge will take 40 corporate leaders on a 1200 km Tuk Tuk ride across the Sri Lankan countryside.
