Roger Federer and Virat Kohli join UAE Royals for IPTL Season 2

IPTL International Premier Tennis League Coca-Cola UAE Royals Virat Kohli

The current world number two and one of the greatest tennis players of all-time, Roger Federer, has joined the UAE Royals franchise for the second season of the Coca Cola International Tennis Premier League. IPTL 2015 is scheduled to be held from December 2 - 20. The announcement was made on Setember 10, at an event in Dubai that was attended by IPTL Managing Director - Mahesh Bhupati, the current Indian test cricket team captain and recently joined co-owner of the UAE Royals – Virat Kohli, UAE Royals' co-owners – Neelesh Bhatnagar and Sachi Godoya and UAE Royals' CEO – Praveen Bhatnagar.

Speaking at the official unveiling of the UAE Royals team for IPTL Season 2, Virat Kohli said; “I have always followed tennis with great interest and today I am glad to be part of a professional tennis league team. I am a huge fan of Roger Federer and with him joining the UAE Royals, my decision to be on board with the team was firm. The UAE Royals feature some of tennis’ greatest players and I am confident about the prospects of the team in the IPTL. I am also excited about the format of the IPTL, which I am sure will drive further interest in the game of tennis.”

The UAE leg of IPTL 2015 will be held from December 14 -16, at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium. Speaking at the event, Neelesh Bhatnagar said; “UAE is fast getting recognized as a global sporting hub and the country has already hosted several internationally reputed events. With the participation of UAE Royals in the IPTL, we have now succeeded in bringing a unique and exciting format of tennis that will certainly add impetus to UAE being recognized as a key sports destination. With Roger Federer in our team and Virat Kohli on board, the UAE Royals have much to celebrate in the second season of IPTL.”

IPTL is a unique, team-based tennis league founded by multiple Grand Slam winner, Mahesh Bhupathi. The inaugural edition in 2014 was played across 4 countries in Asia. The second season will see Japan added to the tour, alongside Philippines, Singapore, India, and the UAE. The league reaches TV audiences in over 125 countries. Tennis fans and followers can also get tickets to the games held in Dubai through Ticketmaster, the official ticketing partner for UAE Royals. 

UAE Royals, now co-owned by Virat Kohli, has roped in Roger Federer for the second season of International Premier Tennis League.
