MCI, a global association, communications and event management company, announced on 18 June 2008, the acquisition of Megaron a marketing support and event management company based in Delhi. In addition to the current MCI office in Mumbai, the company will now have offices in Delhi and Bangalore through this acquisition, giving the company a wider presence in the growing Indian market. Speaking about this expansion, Roger Tondeur, President, MCI, said, ;India is a major strategic market for MCI and we are delighted to expand our business with the acquisition of Megaron. Both Founder Directors will become active partners of MCI at the global level. Both will be joint managing directors of MCI India, along with Sanjay Saxena, Managing Director of MCI Mumbai. Mullati, based in Megaron;s Singapore branch office, will take on an additional role as MCI;s Asia Pacific Sales Director. Mullati spoke about the acquisition as a need to serve clients better. She said, ;With the economic growth in India and to meet the event needs of our clients at a global scale, we have been looking for an international associate and MCI is the ideal partner for us. Khanna, on the other hand, sees this as a step towards exploring newer opportunities. She said, ;We are delighted to join an industry leader like MCI, this merger will bring new opportunities for our staff and new services to our clients. Robin Lokerman, President MCI Asia Pacific, commented on the success of the MCI-Mumbai operations and is optimistic about a mutually beneficial relationship for each of the companies. We are ready to grow the company significantly over the next few years. Megaron currently employs 25 people, who will all be joining MCI. Besides event management, Megaron;s creative team also provides graphic, collateral and web design services, which will all be further assets for MCI.
