The highlights of the weekend were some exceptional sea sporting skills by the Koli Community as they competed on the shores of Marine Drive. The Koli Boat Race was extremely nail-biting with some of the skilled boat riders from the Koli Community displaying amazing skill and competing against each other. Eight Koliwadas competed for the top position, and the Koli’s from Colaba, Versova and Haji Ali made their way to top three in that order.

A continued supremacy by Daisy and Sam Coleman, complemented by strong driving of Indian debut pilot, CS Santosh with navigator Martin Robinson, put the Baleno RS Booster Jets at the top of the inaugural USD 1,25,000 NEXA P1 Powerboat, Indian Grand Prix of the Seas.

The three top finishes for the siblings and CS Santosh’ eight place finish in the third race and his impressive eight and ninth position finish in the first and second race respectively ensured that the Baleno RS Booster Jets ended as the winning team with 89 points and a cheque of USD 50,000. Lloyd Dolphins took second spot and a cheque of USD 20,000, with a total of 87 points with credit to the great driving of Craig Wilson and William Enriquez and husband-wife duo of Stuart and Sara Cureton. Third spot was sealed by MoneyOnMobile Marlins at 79 points with team members James Norvill and Christian Parsons Young finishing consistently, third in Race 3, fourth in Race 2 and second in Race 1 and fellow boat of the Norvall Brothers finishing amongst the top 10 on all three days.

The initiative began with a focus on helping restore Chimbai Beach in Mumbai and the first beach cleanup was planned on February 26 with a coming together of like-minded citizens joining hands to strengthen the movement of restoration. The youth from Joggers Park also participated, and made a painting and poetry contribution on the theme ‘Save Our Oceans.’ Around 250 students came together and contributed their thoughts on how we can make Mumbai a better place live in.
