While in 2010, the competition went global with 10 countries from around the world hosting the events, this year it will be taking place in 18 countries. In India, beginning on Aug. 8 in Mumbai, Red Bull Thre3Style will travel to New Delhi, Bangalore and Kolkata in the hunt for the ultimate DJ. The final winner, deemed the ‘Party Starter', will represent India at the international finals in Chicago.

Participating DJs have to play a selection of atleast three genres of music in 15 minutes, where how the mix of genres sound is more vital than the genres themselves. The participants will be judged basis their track-selection, technical skills, creativity and most importantly, their ability to get the party started.

The competition will take place in Mumbai on Aug. 8 at F-Bar; in Bangalore on Aug. 12 at Love Shack; in Kolkata on Aug. 18 at Roxy; and in New Delhi on Aug. 22 at Anidra. The national finals will take place at Blue Frog in New Delhi on Aug. 24. The city qualifiers will be judged by eminent DJs, with Mumbai being judged by Nawed Khan, Bangalore by Vachan Chinappa, Kolkata by Sanjay Dutta, and New Delhi by Ash Roy, founding member of Jalebee Cartel. The finals will be judged by Nikhil Chinappa and DJ Pearl.

Last year saw the competition going to six cities, as compared to four this year. Commenting on the same, a spokesperson from Red Bull said, "Red Bull Thre3Style is working with DJs from across the country who will be funnelled in to the four cities, thereby ensuring a higher quality of participants."

This year, Red Bull has partnered with Submerge to help shortlist the DJs for the city qualifiers. DJs were asked to send their entries to Submerge by July 28, post which, they were selected basis the overall quality of their submissions.

Speaking about their association with the event, Arnold Wilson, Marketing, Business Development & Operations, Submerge Entertainment said: "Submerge is executing the event with regards to choosing the judging talent, conducting the shortlisting process, and managing the participants on-ground. In fact, this time we've added one more level to the property by including a 'Call for Entries' level. This enabled everyone to participate in Red Bull Thre3style from across the country, thus giving every budding DJ the opportunity to represent India at the Chicago finals. The 'Call for Entries' process was also monitored by extremely experienced DJs from the industry."

The event promotions are being led through PR and social media. The competition is also working with DJ networks and has connected with several core communities, including Submerge.
