This event is the country's only grass roots level championship. All those who wish to enter the world of racing begin with karting. Commenting on the property, Sanjay Sharma, Head of Corporate Communications and Motor Sports, JK Tyre said: "This was originally designed as an entertainment package using 4-stroke cars. Over the last seven years, we have been using 2-stroke cars which are on par with international specifications - we are the only national championship on par with international standards. Kids from eight years of age get to participate in this. Those who graduate bypass national racing and get in at the admission level for international racing."
Round one took place on June 9 and 10 in Hyderabad. Rachnoutsav was responsible for managing the pit areas for each team, the Meco Motor Sports Hospitality Desk, the drivers lounge, taking care of the surround sound system and placement of the video cameras. Speaking about their association with the property, Rakhi Kankaria, Founder, Rachnoutsav Events said, "We have been associated with JK Tyre and Meco Motor Sports from the time the track has launched at Hyderabad Airport."
The second leg of the championship is slated to take place from July 20 to 22 at the MMS - Lahiri Resort in Hyderabad. Showcraft Productions has pitched to manage the event and has submitted proposals to package the event differently. Their possible mandate includes the production aspects of the event - décor, pit areas, VIP sections, etc. - and also finding media partners. The final decision is yet to be made. As a clarification on Showcraft's role in the property and subsequent rounds Sharma said, "Showcraft has proposed ....... but we're still in the process of considering the proposal and nothing has been finalised so far."
Regarding the growth of the property, Sharma said: "The property has grown in stature and contribution to the sport abroad over the years. As such, the only new challenge this year is for the drivers; two new tracks have been added - one in Hyderabad and one in Surat."
The remaining rounds of the championship are slated as round three from Aug. 3 to 5 at Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore; Round four from Aug. 17 to 19 at Erda Speedracers in Baroda; and Round five from Sept. 21 to 23, tentatively scheduled at BIC in Delhi.
