Bollywood films released between January and December 2011 are nominated across 13 categories, including the Worst Actor and Actress, Worst Couple, Worst Song, Worst Film, Worst Director, and WTF Was That?
Commenting on the initiative, Karan Anshuman, Co-Founder - The Ghantas and Film Critic, Mumbai Mirror said: "While there are good movies produced every year, there are several that just want to make us tear our hair out and dance naked at the producer's house, demanding refunds. There are more than a dozen film awards to reward the good films but how many to reward the worst of Bollywood? Also, The Razzies are a glorious institution but unfortunately, even after 30 years, they don't look at Bollywood at all. I think it is very unfair that the world's most prolific film industry doesn't get the recognition it deserves. So, we decided to rectify the situation. We called the organizers of The Razzie Awards with the idea of an Indian version, but they didn't reply so we started our own award show."
The jury members for the awards show will consist of Rajeev Masand, Entertainment Editor and Film Critic, CNN-IBN; Sahil Rizwan, Film Critic, TheVigilIdiot.com; Mihir Fadnavis, Film Critic, MihirFadnavis.Blogspot.com; and Fight Club. People can vote using their Twitter and Facebook accounts. The show will be broadcast live on the online portal. The event is targeted towards everyone above the age of 18 years and is expected to be houseful.
